# Storiefied > Storiefied turns video footage into scroll-driven story websites: the visitor's scroll plays the footage, with words over each scene. People sign in, add footage, and Storiefied drafts a story (a Film or a Book) that they edit and publish on their own subdomain or domain. ## What to know before helping someone - A **story** is a cover, one or more pages, and a last page. Each page plays one **zoetrope**; its **beats** are moments over sections of that footage, each with words and a transition. - A **zoetrope** is footage prepared for scrolling: an uploaded clip (up to 30 seconds), a video from the workspace library, or a free Pexels stock video, cut into gapless sections. It must be ready before a story can use it. - Everything belongs to a **workspace**; members with the editor role or above can create stories. Plans (Free, Individual, Business) set the limits; see [Pricing](https://storiefied.com/pricing). - Nothing is public until the author presses Publish. Password-protected pages stay out of search. - Every published story has an Autoplay button for visitors and a "powered by storiefied.com" line. ## Story kinds - **Film** — One continuous page. Video moves smoothly as the visitor scrolls, with words and components over each scene. - **Book** — A frame-by-frame story made from video frames or images. Each screen shows one frame, and pages are navigated with Previous and Next. ## How a person creates a story (web) 1. Sign in at [https://storiefied.com/login](https://storiefied.com/login) (Google, or email and password). 2. Open **New story**, name it, then choose footage: upload a clip, use a library video, pick stock video from Pexels, or reuse a zoetrope. 3. Choose the kind: a Film (one video, one page) or a Book (video frames or images, one frame per screen, one page or several, in a chosen direction); optionally describe the topic, audience and tone. 4. Storiefied drafts the story (an AI draft that watches the footage on paid plans, a structured starter otherwise) and opens the editor. 5. Edit words, theme, fonts, transitions and pacing; then **Publish**. Add a custom domain from the Domains page. ## How an AI assistant creates stories (MCP) Storiefied runs a Model Context Protocol server. The person creates a personal access token at [https://storiefied.com/dashboard/settings/api](https://storiefied.com/dashboard/settings/api) and adds the server to their assistant: - Endpoint: `https://storiefied.com/api/mcp` (Streamable HTTP, JSON responses, stateless) - Header: `Authorization: Bearer ` (tokens start with `sfd_`) - Claude Code: `claude mcp add --transport http storiefied https://storiefied.com/api/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer "` The token acts as that person in one workspace. Typical flow: `list_zoetropes` → `create_story` → give the person the returned `editUrl`. With no ready footage: `search_stock_video` → `import_stock_video` → poll `get_zoetrope` until `status` is `ready` → `create_story`. Stories created this way are drafts; the person publishes them from the editor. Tools: - `whoami` — The account and workspace this token acts for, and the plan's story limits. - `list_zoetropes` — Footage in this workspace that is (or is becoming) a zoetrope — the thing a story page plays. Only zoetropes with usableInStory=true can be passed to create_story. - `get_zoetrope` — One zoetrope's status and transcode progress. Poll this after make_zoetrope or import_stock_video. - `list_library_videos` — Videos already in the workspace library (uploads and stock imports) that make_zoetrope can turn into footage. - `list_library_images` — Images in the workspace library (uploads and stock imports). Pass their assetIds, in reading order, to create_story as a Book's imageAssetIds. - `make_zoetrope` — Start turning a library video into a zoetrope. Returns the zoetropeId immediately; transcoding takes a while — poll get_zoetrope until status is ready. - `search_stock_video` — Free Pexels videos short enough to become a zoetrope on this plan. Leave query empty for what is trending. - `import_stock_video` — Copy a Pexels video into the workspace library and (by default) start making it a zoetrope. The author is credited on the story's last page automatically. - `list_stories` — Stories (projects) in this workspace, newest first, with their editor and preview links. - `get_story` — One story's pages and beats (titles and words), for review before editing it in the editor. - `create_story` — Create a new story (project) and draft it: an AI draft that watches the footage on plans that include it, otherwise a structured starter. FILM: exactly one zoetropeId that was made from a VIDEO — one continuous scrolled page. BOOK: one still frame per screen with Previous/Next; give zoetropeIds (one page each, frames are one per second) OR imageAssetIds (library images, one page, one frame per image, in order) — not both. The story is NOT published; open editUrl to refine and publish. ## Docs - [Documentation](https://storiefied.com/docs): the whole manual on one page — creating, editing, themes, transitions, domains. - [Pricing](https://storiefied.com/pricing): plans and limits. - [Story gallery](https://storiefied.com/stories): published stories their authors chose to show. ## Optional - [About](https://storiefied.com/about) - [Contact](https://storiefied.com/contact): hello@storiefied.com; support support@storiefied.com - [Terms](https://storiefied.com/terms) - [Privacy](https://storiefied.com/privacy)
